The Struggle is REAL.
Ive been looking for a 2007+ Tacoma to split with my pops. He works out of town so that leaves me in charge of finding a good one. We have been looking for a high milage Taco for about a month now. A few have popped up on the CL but by the time I can go see them they are sold. I am going to have to open up my schedule so I can make finding one a priority. Thanks for letting me complain.

yes, however, we want a high mileage one because it will probably only be driven 1000-2000 miles a year and only plan to keep it for 3-5 years. I don’t want to take the hit on the depreciation of a new one.

Even beat old ones still are pricy.

If you are only driving it 1K-2K a year, I would look elsewhere. Taco’s have the highest resale of any vehicle. Your money will go farther if you expand your search. At those mileage levels, fuel costs probably aren’t a concern. A Colorado, Frontier or even a full size would get your more truck for your money.
Unless you are dead set on a Taco, I would avoid the used Taco market.

We bought ours the day it was posted.. low km, local, one owner.. I found the trd sports were the quickest to sell, sr5 doublecabs were next. Make sure the frame has been checked/treated.replaced from 05-09.
Our next one will likely be a 3rd gen trd sport.

I think that’s the EXACT reason he wants one. Little to no depreciation over the next 5 years. Versus buying a Frontier, and it losing $8-10k in value over 5 years.
That’s the whole reason I bought a truck (albeit a classic). It costs me less than $200 a year (for a tag and insurance). I couldn’t even rent a truck 2 days a year for that. At that price, why WOULDN’T I buy one?

Get an S10. Good trucks and reliable also.

Find a similar era F150 or Silverado... agree with Something Clever. Used Toyota trucks, especially 4WD ones, are usually more expensive than even full size trucks of the same era (excluding diesel ones)

I looked at used ones for a very brief period, ended up going new. Even depreciation on a new Taco after a 3-5 year period is nearly neglibible.

Been there, last time I was car shopping I found an 89 E30 325is coupe. It was posted Monday night and Tuesday morning I emailed the seller, he said he already had two opponiontments for buyers to come look at it, the first he buoght it at asking price, which was very fair.

E92M3,
THIS is exactly why we are looking for a high mileage Taco. In 3-5 years it will be relatively low milage and this way we won’t lose much to depreciation.

Same thing here.
